It’s World Book Day* so what better time to show you this shopping bag from Waterstones bookstore:
Happy World Book Day, everyone. As part of the celebration, school children in the UK are given book tokens which can be exchanged for special WBD books. I’ll be taking the children to spend their tokens this evening. I expect The Boy will choose this book because he enjoyed the first in the series. I guarantee Missie will say she doesn’t like any of the WBD books and ask to parlay the voucher into the purchase of a different book.
(*in the UK world at least)

Books are beautiful. That is all.
Amen.
Books are beautiful AND Roald Dahl is beautiful!
Yet another reason to move to the UK . . .sigh . . . .
Sarah, one word – RAIN.
I love rain, Downith! The sun is an evil ball of bright light in the sky that burns usss, preciousss. And triggers our migrainesss.
This is beautiful, Sarah. Really, really beautiful. And I couldn’t agree more.
What a wonderful program! The fact that even preschoolers get these tokens is so beautiful! It is Inspiring minds, at an early age, to find enjoyment in books. Exposure is so important.
It is pretty special. They brought the tokens home from school last night and The Boy somehow managed to finagle two. I might get myself the Alfie book – I used to love reading those books to the kids when they were younger and the illustrations are exquisite.
Books are the best things in the world. With the exception of small children and dogs. If I didn’t have books, my walls would be bare.
Bare walls and bare souls, Teri.
If it’s World Book Day, shouldn’t we be celebrating in the US too? I never owned my own books as a child, thank goodness for public libraries.
I know. It’s a bit presumptuous to call it World Book Day. Rule Britannia and all that.
Yay books and hey– how did I not notice that fabulous picture of gloves? The pink one is my favorite.
I changed my header after writing this post.
I read it and commented and somehow missed your brilliant photo. xo
